Write an essay on any One of the following;

(i) Role of Media

In today’s world, media has made a very special place for itself in our lives. If I say that today, media has become as important as food and clothing, then I don t think so that I am over exaggerating anything. There is no denial that media is playing a very significant role in making the world smaller. Through various mediums of media whether it is radio, television, newspaper or intemet, we are able to connect with large number of people around us. Especially internet has truly become the need of every individual both for our work and to connect with our friends and well wishers. Facebook, Orkut and Twitter have occupied uch special place in our lives that if we are not a F art of it, then there rs something really important that we are missing.

Besides connecting with our friends, media at 0 informs us about the world happenings. In one line I can say that me ‘a is like a mirror of the society which reflect each and everything about the society’ to us. Media people from television and print takes the nsk of their lives to inform us about important news. To some extent I can compare these brave journalists with our soldiers who do not bother about their 1ives and takes the responsibility to aware the eneral masses about the truth. I think it is almost impossible to imagine a life without media

But one also can not overlook this fact that slowly commercialization is also coming in media. Media has a huge responsibility of conveying the truth and relevant information to the common man. But somewhere this seems to be taking a back seat for media people as they are focusing more on commercialization. Now a days, hot news which can help in increasing the TRP rates of the channel becomes the priority for them. But there are still some ethical people in media who are struggling to maintain the real purpose of it.

But media is not just confine to informing us about the world happenings and serving a means to connect with people, in fact it also affects out thinking patterns as well. The way we think and perceive various issues about the world is also shaped up by media. Today everyone especially youth is growing so aware about his responsibilities towards society is because of media

When it comes to media, how can one forget to talk about the entertainment industry? Entertainment is something that one cannot live without. Be it movies, radio, internet etc., media is just everywH’ere in our life. Today entertainment is so easily available that every common person is able to afford it. Music and movies are so easily available to us through the internet that one does not have to spend loads of money on them.

If we just look around then we would find that there is no aspect of our life which is not touched and affected by media. Be it our work, relationships, education or entertainment, media is seen everywhere. And there is no denial that we cannot live without media.

(ii) An amazing Scientific Invention

In the period of 20th century, people saw plenty of significant changes in our life to remember forever in their life. Most shifts were technology advancements due to great inventions, which even nowadays changing shapes of everyday life of society. In my opinion, the most remarkable invention which can be remembered in history is invention of computers. Because computers influenced our office systems, education and science

First, after invadlng to our life, computers have become one of the main tools of office workers. Because due to computers companies are saving a great deal .of money arid increasing productivity of office workers. For instance, computer is a good device to manage data storage of companies and thus can help to reduce ~I:lehuge amount of paper which are needed for ordinary working issues. Also, they can be used to enhance productivity in areas such as word processing, data management and information access. Therefore, it is predicted that computers will remain as a essential instrument of office staff for a long time.

Second, education is one of the most important factors of development and due to computers education system of countries is improving. After’invention of computer, quelity of education has been increased and students has began to study in interactive ways such as online presentations, group learning through the Internet and taking online courses, which are offered by great universities such as Harvard, MIT and Stanford. The use of computers makes learning simpfer, easier and more convenient for students and every young people, no matter where is he/she from, is able to gain knowledge by connecting their personal computers to the Internet. As a result, people have realized the beneficial sides of computers for education system and are trying to use them as much as possible in educational processes all over the world.

Third, computers are one of the main factors that led science to be developed with high speed and most explorations have been conducting with the help of these devices. In fact, in science there are a lot of calculations need to be performed in order to prove some hypothesis and mostly computational scientists often use it, For example, the use of supercomputers has enabled astrophysicist to find out the condition of our universe, when it was being undergone “Big Bang”, has enabled biologists to get more inf9rmation on genetics of human-beings and for geologists has enabled to predict earthquakes accurately. In this way, computers play major role on the advancement of scientific areas and scientists use them in different purposes such as modelling stars, modelling disease states to modelling human behaviour. Therefore, it is possible that in the future scientific inventions, computers will be one of the contributors.

All is all, the invention of computer might be remember for a long time in people’s mind, because through 60 years, it has impacted almost all areas of our life from our everyday working issues, educational and scientific areas. Thus, most people cannot imagine their life without computers, they have become quite close to us that we sometimes forget that it is just a device, made from metals. As a result, we treasure as a child, love them as a lover and use as a heart. In my point of view, it was not only the greatest change of 20th century, it was one of the most significant changes of all time

(iii) Load shedding and. Students

Electricity is in short supply in Pakistan, and as a result electric load shedding, break downs, power outages, fluctuations, blackouts etc are a common feature in the country. Whether it is summer or winter, load shedding is there. Sometimes it is scheduled, while or other occasion’s it is totally unscheduled. The letter is the worst because it causes untold problems and hardships to the electricity dependent community. It can be confidently said that the electric supply has never been reliable at any time in Pakistan

Energy crises create a big problem which we call an electricity load shedding or shortage of electricity. Despite of affecting the common peoples in regard of businesS, socially, economically, it also affects the student comrr ..mity

The hours-long um·cheduled load-shedding in Pakistan especially Peshawar has badly affected” the life of everyone specially increased the miseries of students

The power supply company has resorted to over 8 to 12 hours of outages, which is adding to the miseries of the residents already haunted by the rising inflation and worsening law and order situation.

As we know that, the month of March is especially very important for the matriculation students as there examinations are in progress. These examinations provide the base for the future carriers of the students.

Because of electricity shortage, the valuable time of students is going to be wasted. Students are facing severe study problems. Their. daily routine timetable is disturbed which will affect their future also. Not only, the matriculation students are affected from the electricity shortage, also the university level students are also affected by the electricity load shedding

The Problem of load shedding is further intensifying by the gas load shedding in the Pakistan. Students will face the life threateninq hot I in the examination halls during the summer examination

So, it must be making possible to facilitate students during the examination and preparation days by overcornlnq the electricity shortage.

Pakistan cannot make progress in any field in the presence of “load shedding. Therefore government should take all possible measures to end load shedding from the country. First of all it should remove corruption, inefficiency and mismanagement from WAPDA. New mega dams should be constructed without further delay. The present available resources should be developed immediately. Power should be generated from solar and nuclear energy. Power theft should be should be stopped forthwith. On the other hand people should make wise and proper use of electricity. They should tum to using energy saving device. No dqubt such steps can help a great deal in ending load shedding from the country
